Water DePaul has worked to reduce its use of fresh water on campus in a variety of ways over time, including: purchasing sink hardware that limits use via either motion activation or compression timer; reducing landscape watering schedules and frequencies; purchasing more native landscape materials that require less watering; installing low flow shower heads at all residence hall shower units; and specifying low flow bathroom fixtures for all new construction and remodeling. In the future, DePaul will be looking into things such as changing certain existing bathroom fixtures (urinals) to waterless- which will save significant fresh water over the course of any given year. |
